Here’s some questions we’ll answer: What’s the appeal of Payday Lender’s advertising? What are the costs of these loans? What are the Utah laws related to these lending services?  What should you consider before signing on the dotted line? Will you be paying forever? Class will provide examples, ideas for classroom activities to evaluate costs compared to other lending products.

Teaching Tough Topics

The Adult Roles curriculum covers many sensitive topics including STI’s, sexuality, abuse, rape, gender roles, pornography etc.  In an ever changing world it is important that we are inclusive in how we teach topics relating to dating, marriage, and families.  Come receive ideas on how to cover some of these tough topics to ensure that our curriculum is inclusive for all of our students.  Time will be given for teachers to share ideas on how they address these tough topics.  More information will also be given regarding the changes to the human sexuality policy.

Socially Strong, Emotionally Secure

Resilience is the ability to recover from or adjust to misfortune or change, bounce back, and overcome the odds. This is important for every child and adult, as we are all subject to the unknown.

This session will include a discussion on how we can help children develop resilience, why resilience matters, everyday strategies that can be used to create strong supportive interactions and build key social and emotions skills in children.

Outdoor Classrooms - Class Description: Participants will gain an understanding about the outdoor classroom. Knowledge of the defined areas and what children learn. A basic overview of how to connect children to nature and enjoy nature through all the seasons, the outdoor natural learning environment, how to fully utilize it and the wonderful learning experiences it creates for children.  There are many right ways Big or Small- It’s All Good!
