All classes are on a first come first serve basis and selecting a class for your schedule does not guarantee a seat will be reserved for you. The only exception is the limited seating classes; however, your seat will be given to the next person in line if you are more than 10 minutes late.

Do you need CPR training? Earn your CPR certificate for Infant/toddlers and adults as an educator while at summer conference.
American Heart Association instructors will provide trainers for CPR certificate. The certification fees must be paid by the conference attendee and can be paid in cash or credit card.
CPR certificate for Infant/toddlers and adults is $30 paid by teacher or $50 for both CPR & First Aid Certifications.
First Aid Certification is offered at 1:10pm
This presentation will cover some basic techniques used in Pattern Drafting. Participants will work with 1/2 scale patterns to learn dart manipulation techniques. We will discuss how to move darts in order to create a variety of designs using "slash and spread" methods. Additionally, we will discuss the benefits of bringing these techniques into the classroom. This is a hands-on workshop, please bring pencil, ruler, paper, scissors and tape.

These specialty cookies can be tough to master. You will learn to basics of, making macrons, the French and Italian way! You will also get to taste test a few different flavored macarons! Have you ever wanted to create greater unity in your classroom? Understand your student’s behavior on a deeper level so as to be able to manage the impact? Lead your classroom in a way that activates student learning and engages students. We will take a deeper look at Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and break it down to apply the concepts into our teaching and classroom management. We will discuss, Basic needs, Safety and Order, Sense of Belonging, Accomplishments, and Self-Actualization (looking at these from a different point of view, than Psychology 101). Come share your thoughts on how you create a sense of belonging in your classroom and get ideas from others. We will also be looking at the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as it relates to Maslow’s Hierarchy and the reasons to implement these concepts into your classroom. Don’t worry though- this class is not lecture and “research heavy”, this is all about practicality in the classroom.

This session will focus on two graduate degree options at Utah State University that will further your education, increase your earning potential, and improve your teaching. Students in the FCSEE MS degree develop skills in the areas of instruction, program planning, evaluation and research related to research methodology and statistical applications. The CTE M.Ed. professional degree program provides students with the flexibility to pursue specific CTE areas, instructional technology, educational leadership, non-formal and adult education, and STEM areas.

Come receive ideas on how to cover some of these tough topics to ensure that our curriculum is inclusive for all of our students. Time will be given for teachers to share ideas on how they address these tough topics. More information will also be given regarding the changes to the human sexuality policy.

Google Chromebooks are one of the fastest growing devices being used in Utah classrooms. With their low cost and ease of use they are becoming the go-to device for 1:1 schools. Barn quilts have become a unique feature across America. This course will provide background information and an opportunity to create a small barn quilt for a shed or porch. Participants in this workshop will connect geometric designs, math concepts and painting techniques to create a small wooden barn quilt (small enough to pack in luggage). You will be anxious to return to the country!
Superheroes are often ordinary people until they put on “the suit” which transforms them into something extraordinary. They understand how appearance affects the way they think, feel, and act and the way others react to them. When the supers put on their suit, they become everything the suit represents. It becomes their defense, their armor, their super power, their secret weapon. In this program you’ll learn 11 ways use nonverbal communication to your advantage - to suit up and become more super. You’ll understand how to turn your appearance into a fine-tuned weapon, one that will help you to accomplish your goals…be it getting the job, feeling appropriate at formal occasions, gaining greater confidence in your overall appearance, or saving the world from villainous domination.
Come try a fun lab to teach your Foods and Nutrition II students about small appliances. We will be making guacamole, Cake waffles, hummus and Carmel popcorn and learning about the immersion blender, the food processor, the scale and the internal temperature thermometer.
Student success is predicated upon their power of choice. We cannot force it with bribes, pleading or coercion; students must choose the path of success for themselves. So, what’s a teacher to do? The ultimate objective of a teacher is to create an environment most conducive to student success, to create circumstances that encourage students to actually choose the path of success for themselves. So, how is this done? In this session Nathan Cureton, a long time Utah educator, author, and keynote speaker will engage participants in an exploration of four universal guiding principles of creating a classroom culture of student success, empowering participants to empower their students.
Kitchen planning, trends, and current NKBA standards will be covered in this class. Handouts will be provided to utilize in interior design courses, as well as to assist in the FCCLA Star project.
This class includes an overview of what addiction is and is not, and a brief description of what happens to the brain in addiction. Participants will also learn how they can avoid addiction or help others who may be at risk, why it is so difficult to recover from, and what it takes to recover. This class includes an overview of what addiction is and is not, and a brief description of what happens to the brain in addiction. Strong Parents, Stable Children is an interactive 3 or 4 hr. workshop that produced professional who work with parents an overview of the “strengthening Families 5 Protective Factors” Developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy. This training includes a binder that contains more the 50 handouts/guide-sheets professionals can give participants. Teachers will learn cutting edge research not only about parenting, but about neuroscience, positive psychology, and happiness and well-being that contribute to strong parent-child relationships, and lower levels of child abuse and neglect.

A great class where participants will be sewing a fun and stylish knit dress. This dress could be used as a project for Apparel Design and Production I & II. It’s an easy pattern that allows students to make a comfortable dress mastering sewing techniques with different types of knit fabrics.
