I have been teaching FACS for 31 years at West High School in Salt Lake School District and was hired when the school needed a part-time sewing teacher. I had a Clothing and Textile BachelorDegree from BYU when I started teaching. I enjoyed teaching I decided to go back to school to get my Home Ec Composite Teaching Certificate so I could teach all content areas within the FCS department.  (Now called Family Consumer Science). I teach Sewing Construction Textiles I, 2, and 3 and the Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising courses.  I teach Financial Literacy and for many years the Adult Roles and Financial Literacy course (now currently Individual and Family Relationships).  I have taught Foods and Prostart  for 10 years as well as 14-15 years of Interior Design.  I spent 12 or so years participating in FCCLA and mentored 4 State officers.   I run my own sewing business and like to alter wedding gowns including creating a modest look, tailoring projects and general alterations of all kinds.  In addition, I help my daughter manufacture bamboo/organic cotton baby swaddles and knit and quilted blankets targeted for the older mom's style!!
